The gallery artbalance is located opposite the historical “Speicherstadt” (warehouse part of the harbour) and very close to Hamburg’s Art Forum.

“Through changing exhibitions we are presenting contemporary art and at the same time we offer our contemporary artists a new space”, explains gallery owner Ute Maack-Gartz. “I want to give the visitors of the gallery access to what appeals to me.”

During its premiere of the exhibition “Story board”, artbalance presented three independent productions of the photographer Michael Holz from Hamburg. His work captured the spectators and carried them off into a fascinating and surreal world of infinite moments – in which all is levitating and time is irrelevant.

The founder

Ute Maack-Gartz has a background in advertisement and worked for many years in reputable direct-marketing companies as a chief executive officer, which turned her into a real entrepreneur. The gallery artbalance is an expression of her passion for contemporary art: she offers her visitors access to what appeals to her – and offers contemporary artists a new space.
